Diversity, equity and inclusion are the keywords of the current cultural change in science. It is based on the observation that universities and other scientific institutions are exclusive places and permeated by social power relations. As a result, only the potential of a certain section of society is included in the acquisition of knowledge, which has consequences for the work culture and the research results themselves.
Opening universities to the diversity of society and productively incorporating their diverse potential into science is the goal of all efforts for diversity. The principle of equal opportunities and fairness applies, namely that all people should have the same opportunities of access to academic institutions. The process of inclusion ensures that all people with their different life situations and needs are truly enabled to participate in science.
